I decided to take another shot at Oil Painting today! I am proud of what I was able to do with the limited knowledge I have… but I want to become better! Anyone have any tips when painting portraits? The only thing that is oil paints is the skin, the rest is acrylics. What colors do you use to paint pale skin? All of the colors I mixed seem a little dark for my liking. I want really pale skin.

Exhausted.

January 27, 2012

I went to post the portrait I did of my friends baby….. and was so tired! I looked at the “add new post” page and shrugged my shoulders and crawled into bed. hahaha.
Here I am, ready to post what I worked on in the car for 7 hours! Please note that it is drawn off of a picture from my friends phone… in the car… with just a mechanical pencil (also that the pictures I have taken does not do it justice). I am doing another portrait of the baby soon, but with my drawing pencil and at my house. 🙂 I hope you like the portrait, and if you are interested in one of your loved ones, send me an email at jenna_wing@live.com OR like MEEMZY ART on facebook and send me a message there.

Heading back to Montreal…

January 25, 2012

I know I said I would be sketching on the way to Ohio…. but I ended up leaving my art supplies in the trunk and sleeping the whole time. oops.
My trip has come to an end! Tomorrow morning I ship back out to Montreal… and I am keeping my art supplies with me! I am going to be doing a portrait for my friends baby. Earlier today I was going through some photos and I found some old pictures I have done. I hope you enjoy them and look forward to more recent art soon!

Let inspiration soar

January 21, 2012

I have been working on a piece since last night and I finally finished it! It is actually rare that I work digitally, but that is exactly what I did last night. It was a welcome change since I’ve been making art traditionally for 7 months now. The piece I did was for an art contest a video game I play is holding. The game is called ‘League of Legends’.

The contest was to take at least one of the characters from the game and draw them with something to do with the Chinese New Year. I chose to take two champions, they are sisters, and draw them in traditional Chinese dresses with fireworks in the background. I’m pretty happy with the outcome. :] I’m not sure when the next time I am going to use Photoshop again… but it may be a loooong time. hahaha.

My creative juices have been flowing recently. So many things are inspiring me and I have so many ideas of paintings I want to do! Unfortunately there are so many ideas that I have no idea where to start! I’ll get read to start one idea and a new idea will pop into my head and I’ll want to do that instead! ahh! Hopefully they chill out just for a little while so I can start making more art.

I’m heading back to Ohio to visit my family for a week tomorrow and I plan to get some good sketches done on the 12 hour drive there (and back). When I get home next week, I am going to start doing oil painting studies and hopefully get decent with them. I would LOVE to have this big project I am conjuring up in my head be done in oils.

Til next time,

Jenna Michelle

Welcome to my blog

January 20, 2012

This is my first ever blog! I am very excited and I have high hopes for it. I am hoping to keep my fans up to date with my art and allow other people to find and enjoy my art as well. So, if you haven’t checked out my art yet, don’t be shy! I have a tab up top underneath my header named “Website”, which contains the link to my very own website, and also at the bottom of my blog there is a Facebook link to my  Meemzy Art page. If you have any questions about my art, or about me, don’t hesitate to send an email my way (jenna_wing@live.com).

At the moment, the media I work in is Colored Pencils and Acrylics. Tomorrow I am broadening the media I work in with oil paints! I am very excited to try them out. They are the one thing I’ve wanted to do for a long time. I’m hoping I’m not too terrible at it and I progress quickly. Maybe they will become my main painting medium? Check back soon for an update on my oil painting!
